NOT RELIEF WORK
OBJECTS OF PLACEMENT SCHEME. It is officially explained that the officers administering the Labour Department's new placement scheme are solely concerned with placing men in vocations for which they are best suited. Enrolling at the placement office does not mean ‘‘signing on for relief" (that is done at the local post office or labour bureau; but it does open up the possibility of being considered for positions as they are notified to the placement officer. All services are free and the benefits of the scheme are available to all unemployed whether registered for relief or not. There are no charges whatever to employer or employee, neither is there any obligation on the part of an employer to accept any candidate submitted.
