ON THE GOLF LINKS. (Our Resident Representative.) Playing on the Otorohanga links in the first round for the Patron’s Trophy on Saturday afternoon, the best cards handed in were: Mrs Hitchcock 95—23—72, Mrs Ken Liddy 101 —24—77, Mrs Austin 88—11 — cott J. M. Quin 89—20 Men: Pilkington 79—10 —69, Pres--69, S. Mcßobie 82—10—72. In the inter-club match between Otorohanga and Maihiihi, the former won by 12
matches to two. Otorohanga was strongly represented at the annual provincial clay bird shooting tourney at Morrinsville during the week-end, by Messrs M. Pratt and Wi. Elliott Both marksmen gained a considerable share of the prize money in the various competitions. Among recent visitors to Otorohanga Was the famous old-time pigeon shot, Mr Duncan Fraser, who wion the first live pigeon championshifl of New Zealand. Despite his advanced age, Mr Fraser is still an active man, and engages in shooting ghche whenever the opportunity offers. He now resides with his son at Te Kuiti. Heavy frosts have been recorded at Otorohanga on recent nights], followed by beautiful days of warm sunshine, promoting a noticeable growth in the pasture, even at this period of early winter. As a result of these favourable conditions, many dairy herdsmen will milk units of tiheir herds throughout the winter months.
