Mr W. P. Norton, stationmaster at Te Awamutu, to-day received notice of his transfer to Newmarket. Mr' McKenzie, senior clerk at Newmarket, is to transfer as stationmaster at Te Awamutu.
A Kio Kio wedding on Wednesday of Mr S. N. Vicary to Miss E. J. Wylie is announced. At Pirongia, Mr A. Ramsay, of Tauwhare, was married to Miss L. Aubin, on Wednesday. It was not possible to elect a Kihikihi School Committee, as the annua! meeting of householders did not secure a quarum. At Rangiaohia the committee elected was Messrs J. H. Mondeno (chairman), W. H. Mandeno (secretary), T. Weal, Butterworth, W. Long, Jas. Cruickshank and F. Bowden.
The Pirongia Hunt Club is at present making arrangements for a three day hunt. There is much concern in the district as it is rumoured that the local creamery is to be closed as from ndxt Saturday. The Kihikihi Milk Suppliers promoted a sports gathering last Wednesday. Mr W. G. Short, Commissioner, presided at a commission in the Te Awamutu Courthouse on Tuesday to assess the responsibility of local bodies for the proposed new bridge over the Waipa river at Pirongia. Waltomo County was represented by Messrs A. Scholes, chairman, W. Hoffman and G. P. Finlay, solicitor; Waipa County by Messrs J. Fisher, chairman, C. Bowden, clerk, and A. J. Swarbrick, solicitor; Raglan County by Messrs Campbell Johnstone, chairman, D. Bruce, H., Marland, clerk, and Skelton, solicitor. Kawhia County opposed the work, holding that the Whatlwhatihoe bridge is sufficient for thf needs of the district.
