LIVE MODEL PARADE

ATTRACTION IN WHITAKER STREET LATEST SPRING FASHIONS WORN BY LIVE MODELS AN INTERESTING SCENE One of the greatest attractions lo Aroha has witnessed took place on Tuesday evening, when Caudwell s Limited held their Live Model Parade of latest spring fashions. Crowds started to congregate long before the appointed time, so as to be sure of a good position. By 7.30 p.m., the time appointed for the commencement of the parade, a great mass of eager faces were pressing towards the large centre window, which was especially decorated for the occasion.

Promptly to time the first of the live models appeared wearing a beautiful garbardine costume with hat, veil and gloves to match. Shortly afterwards followed the other models, each wearing the latest style in spring frocks with becoming hats to contrast. Some very smart and artistic costumes were worn and shown in a most practical manner by models specially selected. The new Fuji and Shantung frocks were also very becoming, and the hats worn were exceptionally pretty. Very chic were the wee dresses worn by the little girl models, and the dainty' little hats, bonnets, etc., were the admiration of many a mother.

At 8.45 p.m. the window was cleared in readiness for the bridal display, and a few moments afterwards the bride, accompanied by her bridesmaids, appeared. Every eye was strained, and it was easy to see that great interest was taken in this event. Not only the ladies, but men in every direction could be seen standing on tip-toe; in fact some were standing on benzine tins, packing cases, and ladders brought along specially for the purpose, while others that were eager to see the display climbed up the verandah posts. The bride’s dress was of cream crepe-de-chine, the work of Miss Shepley, Caudwell’s new dressmaker. The dress was a work of art, and Miss Shepley is to be congratulated on the high-class manner in which this work was executed. The train was of cream satin lined with pale pink silk, which made a most pleasing effect. The -bride carried a beautiful bouquet of white flowers. ,

The window ■presented a pretty garden scene, with brickwork, pillars, lattice pegolia and trellis gate, and was decorated with green creepers and white flowers, while on the floor were .dainty reversible wool carpets. Owing to repeated requests for the bridal parade to be held again to give those who were in the middle of the crowd an opportunity of seeing the dresses, Caudwells have arranged to have the bridal portion of the programme staged in the Theatre Royal this evening.
