WAIHOU TENNIS CLUB

OPENING OF SEASON Although not favored with ideal weather the Waihou tennis courts were opened on Saturday last by Mr G. K. Hamilton, president of the Club. Mrs Hamilton sent the first ball over the net. Games were indulged in during the afternoon, some very good form being shown. About 70 people were present, including visitors from Te Aroha, Waitoa and Ngarua Clubs. During the afternoon the ladies provided afternoon tea in the hall, which by the way, reflected great credit upon those responsible. In the evening a dance was held in the hall, about 40 couples gracing the floor. Mr Wade, at the piano, supplied firstclass music, while Mr D. Goodwin faithfully carried out the duties of M.C. Miss Flegland favored with a pianoforte extra. The gathering broke up close on midnight, everybody having thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Altogether the function was a huge -success, and much credit is due to Mr R. J. Schischka, the club secretary, for his untiring efforts and the way he carried out his"tluties.
