GLOSSARY OF TERMS The Turkish names which are frequently mentioned in the cablegrams referring to the operations at Gallipoli and the Straits, when translated into English, are frequently capable of throwing some light on the nature of the operations. Kalessi, castle, fort. Liman, bay. Nogy, great. Planira, mountain ; Punta, point. Sueke, Szenta, saint. Tepe, summit or peak.
