WAIIIOU V MANAWARU The first match for the Farquhar Memorial Cup was played in Te Aroha on Saturday between the Waihou and Manawaru clubs. Neither team was at full strength, but at times some good football was witnessed, although Waihou were always superior to their opponents. The result was a win for the maroon and gold by 17 points to 8. The Waihou team was composed of a number of young players who showed great promise, while Mana] warn had a trial team in the field, which it is expected can be improved upon before the next match. Individually the “ greens ;’ put in some good work, but lacked combination. Mr Aug Lipsey controlled the game admirably.
