Several flights ot locusta passed over Stawall, Victor Ja, from the noithward, and did great, damajjo to tbe go idem Gnat destruction was caused near Glenarchy. In some parts of tho di^tiict crops- that promised to yield fairly a few weeks ago have Leon so damaged that sheep havo hud to be turned into them. ' Many crops Wf.ro Totally destroyed. Grapa i* scarce, owing to the terrible scourge. Another platrue threatens the vineyards at Great Western and other partp or the district. Myriads of gteen caterpillars are attacking the vine leaves and efalks. Men, women, and children are employed in St. Peter's and other principal vineyards picking insects oft the vines.
