I The Wanganui rep. zerzezzs which is on {he way to ‘Auckland to meet the Auckland‘ reps. in the Slxisem Match, played the Taihape representative team yesterday._ The Taihape team in the first half completely 0 ‘ secl’ the visitors, who did not seem beable ro get going. Whenever they’ did become daxlgeruus the defence of the local men prevented them from ‘deriving aus' substantial benefit. The‘ Taihape men played a fast and vigorous game, and they scored four goals during Hxe first half. through the agency of Blackie and D. Bray, who shot two each. -
In the second ‘half, we visitors began to make things very willing and Taihape was placed on the defensive on numerous occasions. Good goalkeeping by Fleet prevented the Wanganui men from scoring on three oncasions, but the visitors kept up fhe attack_ Their efforts were rewarded‘ by a good goal, and later, 'l‘aihape was penalised» in the circle and an3other goal was notched by the visitors. The Taihape men were apparenfly tiring‘, and their attack was much weaker than in the first half; but they played as_ soumi defensive {game and prevented Watmm-mi HOl2l iadding 10 their score. The fac‘. that {three of the Taihape players were in; jured during the second half took all the sting out of their attack. but they thoroughly deserved their win by four «goal’s- to two. !
