THE WANGANUI BAND.

The principal entertainment for this week-end is a series of concerts to bepnt on h.y Queen Alexandra's Own Regimental Band, of Wan-nr„i. which plays at three concerts. Saturday night's programme as advertised, shows that a musical treat is to be s-erved up and the programmes for the Funday concerts have been arram?»l so that there Is no repetition.

To refer once more to thy soiois's. some reference should be made of Messrs Boyd, and Austen, both of whom are playing euphonium solos, former's performance at Gisborne contest was such a brilliant one that he gained only one less than the possiblein points, and the latter secured first at the Auckland contest. Mr T. W, Gray, as solo trombone, is a veteran as a bandsman, though not old in years. He is an all-iround musician, and is also a composer of no mean order. One of his compositions named "Gaba Tepe," will be played by the band at Sunday night's recital. "Gaba Tepe," in memory of our fallen heroes, is written in the form of a prayer, and is beautifully [harmonised, forming one of th e most popular items in the Band's repertoire. The Band will an " r e by expres, on Saturday night and will play through the town before the concert. •
