—.Si. ■ ' ARMIES OF EUROPE AT WAR. Everybody in Taihape cannot go to the war, and we certainly don't want the war to come to Taihape; but we can get just a taste of it by means of war pictures, when the Armies of Europe War Films Com. produce their entertainment to-night at the Three Stars Theatre. In these pictures can be seen the men who are actually fighting in the present great titanic struggle, not merely as parade pictures but as soldiers living and fighting in the very 'trenches of Belgium and France. These pictures, it is said, comprise the only complete programme of genuine Avar ■films ever shown, and by no means is it an ordinary picture show. Bristling Tvrfh thrilling events of actual deeds by our heroic soldiers; not acted war ■dramas, or pictures produced to make one laugh, but a graphically portrayed "history of the present great war in all its reality and horrors. Photographed by Mr. Holmes, the lecturer, who was specially engaged to ■go and take these pictures, and then -travel the British Empire with them to •vividly describe each and every scene ■as it happened before his camera, while he risked his life in getting them. The evening's entertainment is augmented by special music and military songs, rendered by other artists who travel with this up-to-date company. Every phase of the great war is touched -upon, from the making of soldiers in various parts of the Empire, and "our boys" on their way to the Dardanelles, through Egypt to Gallipoli, to the actual battle scenes, to the • work of -the Red Cross attending the wounded and the "burying of the dead. The work of His Majesty's Navy, and the handling of their guns in action, really makes a fine series of waT pictures, genuine in every respect, and such as have never hef ore been thrown on any screen.. Barsby's grounds, in aid of the Red Cross candidate. It goes without saying that these garden parties are about the most enjoyable metnod so far adopted for assisting our Wound-" d Soldiers' Fund, and that bebvj so, fro Red Cross candidate sitiould have «-'ery reason to be satisfied with the patronage. t
