OBITUARY.
MR JOSEPH C. HELMORE.
The death took plane yesterday, at the age of 88 years, of Mr Joseph Cornish Helmore, who had practised continuously in Christchurch as a barrister and solicitor for 59 years. The deceased lived at "Milbrook," Helmore 'a Eoad, Fendalton, where he had accumulated a splendid collection of trees and shrubs. He was 1 born in Exeter, in 1832, and was admitted as a solicitor in England in 1859. Later, he was admitted as a solicitor in Victoria. After travelling in various parts of the world, and practising Jn Singapore for about a year, he settled in 1801 in Christchurch, and was admitted as a barrister and solicitor by the Jate Mr Justice Gresson. He was married in 1559 to a daughter of the late Mr Henry Cresswell, of Exeter. His wife died about 15 years ago, and a son, the late Mr W. H. Helmore, also predeceased him. Members of hrs family who survive him are Messrs G. H. N. Helmore, of Christchurch, W. M. Helmore, of California, F. D. Helmore, of Wairarapa; Mesdames W. &. Cowlishaw, and A. W. Reeves, and a single daughter who resided with him at the time of his death.
