The ex-Empress Eugenie left over £2,000,000, her English estate totalling £121,611. The will enjoins the executors to prosecute any publisher of her memoirs. She bequeathed a valuable painting by Greuze to Sir John Burgoyne, who brought her to England in the yacht Gazelle when the Second Empire fell.
