TOUR OF WEST COAST.

BY CHRISTCHURCH BUSINESS MEN. A party of Canterbury business men. conducted by Mr P. E. Climie, the organiser of the tour, will leave Christchurch to-morrow on a 12-days' visit to the West Coast, for the purpose of getting into closer touch with the various progress bodies in that district. Members of the party will be: —Messrs W. K. McAlpine, H. Holland, G. H. Judd and M. W. Stevenson, representing the Canterbury Progress League; Messrs H. J. Marriuer and F. E. Jones, Canterbury Chamber of Commerce; Messrs W. J. Jenkin and G. White, Canterbury Industrial Association; and Mr B. M. Maedonald, South Canterbury Development League. Mr J. D. Lynch, Mayor of Greymouth, will go with the party as far as Greymouth. The itinerary of the tour will be as follows: Tuesday, August 17.—Leave C.hristehurch by the 8.30 a.m. train for Arthur's Pass. Travel through Otirn tunnel, motor to Hokitikn, via Christehurch Road, Public function nt Hokitikn in the evening, under the auspices of the Westland Branch of the Canterbury Progress League. Wednesday, August 18.—Visit Arnhura Valley (dairying), Hluespur, Kanieri, Lake Kanierl (luncheon), Kokatuhi and Koiteraiißi (settlement). Public meeting, Hokitika, at night, to discuss Westlnnd wants. Thursday, August 19.—Motor to Waiho (Jorge, in South Westland, via Okarito. Evening at Waiho Hall, to discuss South Westland development with settlers. Friday, August 20 Visit Wataroa, Iji Fontaine ami Hail Hari settlement. Evening at Hari Ilari, to discuss matters with settlers.

Saturday, August 21.—Visit Wnitiilia and Ross, thence to Greymouth by train in afternoon. Guests of Greymouth (Hub in the evening. Sunday and Monday, August 22 and 2:t.— Inspection of local places of interest under the guidance of the Grey Progress League, including visits to the State, Dob.son, Brunner and Blackball mines. A public function will be held on Monday evening under tbe auspices of the local league. Tuesday, August 24.—Leave by train for Reef ton, where party will be met on arrival by the president and secretary of the Buller Progress League, and conveyed in special cars to Wcstport, inspecting places of interest en route, including proposed route of Buller Gorge railway. Wednesday and Thursday, August 25 aud 26.—Inspect places of interest In and around Westport under the guidance of the Buller Progress League, including visits to.Charleston, Denniston, Millerton and Seddonville. A public function will be held in the Town Hall, Westport, on Wednesday eveningFriday, August 27.—-I.cnve by special cars for Reef ton, arriving there at 11 a.m. Visits will then be made Under the guidance of the Reefton Chamber of Commerce and Industrial Association to places of interest. A public function will be held in Hie evening. Saturday, August 28.—Leave by special cars for Stillwater to connect with express for Christchureh.
