SOCIAL AND DANCE.

DUNSTABLE HOUSE FUNCTION. ] Members of the firm and staff of Messrs J. Ballantyne and Co. (Dunstable House) met* in the Art Gallery last evening for their annual reunion, which on this occasion took the form of a social and dance —a pleasant, informal, happy kind of event, where all was good feeling and an ardent desire that (everyone should have a good time. Three kinds of entertainment were provided —dancing, cards and an excellent concert programme, the last-named being given in the permanent gallery. Light refreshments were available all the evening, and supper was served in portion of the permanent gallery, which was screened off for the purpose. The rooms were decorated much as they had been for the Hunt Club's ball the previous evening, with the exception of the special emblems representative of that branch of sport. Those on the committee included the Misses Bowen and Ireland, Messrs G Parker, P. Copeland, F. B. Creswell, J. Gunn and J. Hi mile. Excellent music for the dancing was provided by Wells's Orchestra.

i The concert programme opened with a vocal duet, "The. Moon Has Raised," by Mr and Mrs C. X. Forrest. Subsequently, recitations, "The Green Pre of the' Little Yellow God" and "King Henry V. before Agincourt," were giren by Mr Arthur Owen; songs, "Summer Time," by Miss Reddington; "In Love,"' Miss Hawkins; "The Boatswain's Story." Mr F. Hooper; "Laugh and Sing," Miss K. Ward; "I Passed Bv Your Window," Miss Grainger"The Song of the Market Place," Miss V. Haynes; "On Miami Shore." Miss D. Bate; "Mrs Brown at the Seaside." Mr F. Hooper. Mr W. Hindle gave a humorous recitation, "Levinsky's Wedding," and Mr J. Donaldson a similar •contribution, "The Groom's Story."

Forrest, black souplc satin; Mrs Hindlc, black velvet with a touch of pink on the corsage; Miss \V. Anderson, grey crepe dc Chine with relief of royal blue; Miss O. Harris, saxe blue ninon finished with gold tassels; Miss Wakcford, black satin; Miss L. Smith, black silk net, with vieux rose satin sash and swathe; Miss Hawkins, jade ninon; Miss V. Piper, buttercup satin and blue ninon; Miss Vemazoni, white net with touches of pale blue; Miss Grainger, white georgette frock; Miss Byrne, saxe blue liberty satin; Miss E. Bond, black supple satin; Miss I Rhodes, pink frock with ivory lace overdress and contrasting touches of pale blue; Miss White-Parsons, emerald green ninon; Miss N. Vernazoni, pale pink flounced -chiffon frock, the flounces edged with pale pink satin ribbon: Miss Winter, pretty black dress of flounced tulle, the bodice of beaded net; Miss Plimsoll, cream net ornamented with turquoise velvet ribbon; Miss Stone, eggshell blue charmeuse, with blue and gold embroidery; Miss McMasters, apricot charmeuse; Miss Bowen, flamingo pink poplin de Soie embroidered in the same colour, with relief of putty-coloured georgette; Miss Ireland, turquoise frock relieved with pink; Miss Creswell, shell pink crepe de Chine; Miss C. Meikle, nigger brown crepe de Chine and georgette, ornamented with jade green and gold touches; Miss P. Collins, lemon coloured crepe de Chine and saxe blue georgette; Miss M. Collins, black taffeta frock, with cerise sash; Miss G. Collins, black and white crepe de soie; Miss Hardingham, saxe blue silk crepe; Miss Hislop, lemon coloured georgette combined effectively with powder blue; Miss Dixon, cream satin and touches of saxe blue; Miss Robinson, eggshell blue satin and georgette, trimmed with lemon colour; Mrs Chisholm, wine coloured taffetas veiled in black lace; Miss Hynes, saxe blue satin and georgette embroidered in vieux rose; Miss Newman, white crepe de Chine; Miss Edwards, black frock with touches of rose; Miss Galhraith, sage green silk embroidered in lavender; Miss Woodward, black and pink frock; Miss Williamson, white crepe de Chine embroidered in pink; Mrs Aspinall, white and grey dress; Miss Tucker, pink and fawn gown; Miss Woodham was in navy crepe <le Chine and a floral scarf; Mrs Davidson, grey charmeuse and grey georgette; Miss Stocks, pretty frock in black and pink ; Miss K. Harker, powder blue crystalline embroidered in gold and blue.
