NAVY LEAGUE.

The General Committee of the Canterbury branch of the Navy League met last night, Professor T. G. R. Blunt presiding in the absence of the president and vice-president. The secretory (Mr C. J. Treleaven) presented reports on Nelson Day and Navy Day* It was decided to thank all workers, a special vote of thanks being recorded to Mrs W. Wilson. The receipts on Navy Day amounted to £7lO 5/-. The two reports were adopted. The financial statement showed: Receipts £853 10/5, expenditure £66 17/4, balance to credit ip bank £B6O 2/8. The following members were elected to the General Committee: Major Norton Francis, Mrs Norton Francis, and Mr H. D. M. Haszard. IS was agreed to send a letter of condolence to the relatives of the late Mr F. A. Oxlcy, of Picton, a member of the league. The. fol|pwing sub-committee was set up to consider the future work of the branch: The president (Mr 'A. Boyle), Professor Blunt, Captain Marciel, Messrs C. E. BevanBrown, VV. Walton, A. C. Maxwell, and H. J. Marriner. It was decided to ask Mr E. H. Meikle, formerly engineer-lieutenant, R.N., who was in the Zecbruggc raid, and the Hon. W. H. Triggs, M.L.C., to give addresses on dates to be fixed to members of the league. The general secretary of the Navy League, London, wrote that the Admiralty had no German ensigns from any of the surrendered, warships, but had a limited number of German torpedoes, and one of these would be sent to the Canterbury branch as a free gift, the branch to pay charges Incidental to removal,-packing, and transport.
