WEDDING.

The wedding was very quietly celebrated yesterday afternoon of Mr Thomas Mitchell Aubrey Haslett, son of Mr and Mrs J. A. Haslett, of Dunedin, to Miss Jessie Olive Abernethy, only daughter of the Rev. C. Abernethy, Cambridge Terrace, Christchurch. The wedding took place at the residence of Mrs A. H. Turnbull, Holmwood Road, Fendalton, Mrs Turnbull being a very close friend of the bride's family, and was performed by the father of the bride, assisted by" the Rev. G. Lindsay. The drawing-room, where the wedding was held, was beautifully decorated with flowers for the occasion, and, although the weather had been very dull all day, it brightened up wonderfully at the hour appointed for the wedding, and blessed the bride with sunshine. The ceremony was witnessed only by relatives and a very few close friends. The bride was gowned in a pretty cream silk frock, partially veiled in georgette, and draped with lace, and worn with the Orthodox bridal veil. Her ornaments were a pearl necklace and pendant, and she carried a lovely bouquet of> cream Toses. .Miss Irene Wilson was bridesmaid, and wore a cream costume, cream leghorn hat, and carried a bouquet of yellow roses. The bride was given away by her brother, Mr Rex Abernethy. The Bev. R. Young accompanied the bridegroom as best man. Afterwards a dainty tea was served. The bridegroom has just recently returned to the Dominion, after several years' War service as a member of the JLA..F. Before the War he was in America, studying Y.M.C.A. work.
