[The new line comprises the steamers Gabo and Victoria, which will run from Melbourne to Hong Kong. The capital is almost entirely Chinese.] { THE PACIFIC CABLE. (Rec. Nov. 4, 10.20) SYDNEY, Nov. 4. Discussing the cable delays caused fcy the increased work thrown on the Pacific cable, through the breakdown of the Eastern cable, the manager of the Pacific cable states that, in view of the recommendations of the Empire Press Union, the time has arrived for a duplication of the Pacific cable.

The Irish Race Convention was attended by 2000 delegates from the yarious States and New Zealand. ■ It was resolved tb favour Home Rule for Ireland and the establishment of a fund in Australia and New Zealand to help the people of Ireland to press to a successful issue their claims for self-determination.
