BURGESSES’ ASSOCIATION.

WAIMAIRI AND WEST BRIGHTON. A meeting of the Waimairi and West Brighton Burgesses’ Association was held in the North Beach Schoolroom on Saturday last, Mr Eay Blank presiding over a good attendance. A deputation consisting' of Messrs Johansen, Curtis, Whatman, Blank, O’Neill, and Poison was appointed to wait on the New Brighton Council and present a petition for the formation of Beach Road. A deputation was also appointed to wait on the North Brighton Burgesses’ Association at their next meeting and ask their co-operation in the same matter. The secretary was instructed to write to the New Brighton Council urging them to push on the work of forming the Esplanade Road from Bury Street to Beach Road. It was decided to write to the Waimairi County Council again bringing under their notice the dangerous corner at the Bower Hotel, and urging the removal of the fence; also the danger from trees at the approach to the Bower bridge, and the dangerous corner at the tram turning at the Burwood vicarage. It was also decided to write and point out the unsatisfactory state of Inwood’s Road, Frost’s Road, and Reeves Road, and to urge that the gorse and broom be removed from these roads. The attention of the New Brighton Council is to be drawn to the unsatisfactory state of Beach and Patmus Roads. It w r as decided to hold a meeting of the residents of North Beach in the school on Saturday, March 23, to discuss matters connected with the school. The North Brighton burgesses, members of the School Committee, and Education Board are also to be invited to be present. Mr Florence stated that he had formed seven chains of Racecourse Road beyond the present metalled road. He stated that if the Waimairi County Council worrld provide the metal for this length of road that he would spread it himself. Mr Florence was thanked for his offer, which the secretary was instructed to convey to the council.
