ART SOCIETY’S EXHIBITION.

RED CROSS TEA. The Red Cross tea at the Art Gallery has become an institution, the recognised thing to do in the afternoon being to go and take tea and listen to a good musical programme. Personal invitations are not issued, but all are invited to help swell the Red Cross Society’s takings. The hostesses yesterday afternoon were Mesdamcs Hy. Cotterill and L. Clark. The musical programme was arranged by Mrs John Guthrie. The girls who assisted with the tea w T ere: Misses Teschemaker (2), Hope Wood, Sylvia Pox, Ella Helmore, Betty Cotterill, Rita Gibson, Kitty Polhiil, and Betty Northeote. Mrs Rich was in charge of the “Old Gold and Silver’’ stall, and Mrs Vernon collected the money for the tea. Items were contributed by Mrs Guthrie, Miss Millieent Jennings, and Miss Alison Jennings. Amongst those present were noticed: Lady Denniston, Mrs Waite, Miss Muriel Cocks, Mrs E. G. Hogg, Mrs Milton, Mrs Charles Clark, Mrs S. S, Blackburne, Miss Scott, Misses Packer (2), Mrs Richard Anderson, Miss Bathgate, Mr and Mrs G. L. Donaldson, Mrs Jennings, Mr Guy Cotterill, and Mrs Boys. In the evening the visiting delegates to the Victoria League Conference, together with their hostesses and members of the league, were present. Mesdames Wigram and Beswick provided an especially nice supper, and an excellent musical programme was given by Mr Braey Wilson’s concert party. The hostesses were assisted by Mesdames G. Blanch, Henry Wood, Rich, Vernon, and G. Hutton, Misses Overton, Pratt, Biss, D. Cowlishaw, Jessie Wilkin, and Joan Lee. Amongst the many present were: Mrs Norman Macbeth Mrs J. H.
