BICKERDIKE v. SPUDGEON. : A match of :500-up was played yesterday afternoon, at Lyttelton, between .1. BickerI dike (amateur champion of Canterbury) and 11. Spudgeon, of Wellington, tli;■ former running out when the latter had scored 275. I IBickcrdikc gained a good lead at the com-] i niencement of the game, and was about I f>o ahead of his opponent in the first 100, hut I j Spudgeon settled down to steady play, and I I soon made good progress. Bickerdike's j ' best breaks were 38, 27, 21, and 25; and I Spudgeon's 12, 'S.i, 21, and 19. Arrangements j I have been made for a return match next j I week, when an admission charge will he, j made in aid of the Bed Cross Fund.
