LYTTELTON BOROUGH.
COUNCIL MEETING. The Lyttelton Borough Council met last evening, when the Deputy-Mayor, Mr J. T. Norton, presided. There wore also present:—Crs T.'J. H'empstalk, <C R. Webb, M. .1. Miller, C. E. Johnston and \V. T. Foster. ESTATES COMMITTEE. The Estates Committee recommended that the Denfenee Department should be allowed to hold musketry prafiee for senior cadets on the Oiiicers* Point Reserve, the Department to accept all responsibility. It further reported that Mr Orton Bradley, of Charteris Bay, had offered about 100 young trees for planting at Corsair Bay and Diamond Harbour. The report was adopted, and it was derided to thank Mr Bradley for his gift. IMPROVEMENTS. The 'Works Committee recommended that improvements to the jetty at Corsair Bay should be put in hand at once, and that a ten-foot footway should be constructed along the length of tire completed portion of the wall at the tunnel mouth. The report was adopted. PI RE BRIGADE UNIFORMS. It was decided, on the recommendation of the Pire Prevention Committee, that'a special grant of £l2O should be made for now uniforms to the Fire Brigade. FINANCE. The financial statement, which was adopted, showed that receipts to the District Fund Account were £7115 10/ D, ami payments made wore &1405 1/6. The balance in hand was £1081) 2/9. The Temporary Loan Account was in debit £12748 1/10. Accounts amounting to £lOl3 15/4 were passed for payment.
