GARDEN PARTY AT FENDALTON.
IN AID OF Y.M.C.A. WORK. This afternoon a garden party in aid of the Y.M.C.A. Comforts Fund for soldiers was given by'the Fendalton Girls' Guild at Mrs Norman Macbeth's residence, Wairarapa Terrace. There was a good attendance, an interesting visitor being Captain Worsley, of the Shackleton Expedition, who only arrived in Christchurch this morning from Wellington. The Woolston Band played bright selections, and numerous attractions were arranged in the way of stalls, side-shows, games, etc. The decorations, the pretty frocks of the girls, and the pretty grounds made a charming picture, ami. the brisk business recorded by the stallholders should guarantee a good return. The stalls were as follow:—Sweets, Misses Price, Evans, Dickie, Tonks, Snow, and Taylor; cakes, Misses Hudson, Atkinson, Dougall, Biekert.on, and Mulligan; fancy articles, Misses Smythe, M. B. Price, Williams, and Pinckne\ r ; ice-creams, Misses Free and Macfarlane. The tea-tables were under the charge of Mrs Macbeth and helpers.
