SINGLE GEARED TRIALS.
j About half-past one this afternoon l ilO of the competitors in the Pioneer J"'Motor Club's single-geared trial and 'j petrol consumption test assembled "j outside the club's rooms in Oxford 7 Terrace. The starting point arrangements occupied a fair amount of J lime, and the first rider did not leave I until 1.53 p.m., the others following Mat intervals of three minutes. After 'J a few machines had started, A. Morjland arrived, and although all starters should have been on the mark at ' 1.30 it was decided to allow him to start, as be had had to come in from Rakaia. The following is a list of 1 the competitors, their machines, and ; the order in which they started:— ' A. B. L. Smith, 7 h.p. Henderson; F. Rucli, 1 ."!} h.p. Triumph; C. Bonnington, 4 h.p. > Triumph; K. Stevens, 5 h.p. Indian; J. B. . Brown, -U h.p. U.S.A.; S. Mallard. 5 h.p. Indian; T. Haworth, -4} h.p. 8.5.A.; A. Wood ' man, / h.p. Henderson; E. F. C. Mines, 7 h.p. Indian; T. C. Tyson, 7 h.p. Henderson; and A. Morland, .'!,} h.p. Triumph. The total distance of the course is about 50 miles, and it will be ini teresting to see how some of the i machines tackle some of the rather t stiff pulls among the hills through . which the route passes. , The first machines to arrive back : at the finishing point, Messrs Ifal- • crow and Ingram's Garage, Oxford Terrace, were those ridden by A. B. L. Smith, C. Bonnington, and F. Buck. This does not convey the final re-i suit, as the winners have yet to be worked out on points, and there will not be any definite list of winners for' a day or two. j
