RAKAIA.
From Our Own Correspondent The quai ..rly meeting of the Si 1 !- | wyn Licensing was held on Thursday at Rakaia. There were pre-! sent: Messrs T. A. B. Bailey, S.M. (chairman), Tlios. Langley, Thos. Black-' ley, A. J. Magson, and A. Druinmond. j The police reports on the hotels were in all cases satisfactory. A permanent transfer of the license of the Methven Hotel from T. Twomey I to Tlios. Asjiell was granted. A word of caution was sounded by the | chairman on behalf of the committee against publicans supplying liquor to! men in charge of teams, and he stated j that anyone neglecting this warning would have a black mark against them for the annual meeting. The fact of the Methven races occur-j ling on Thursday interfered with quite I a number of Rakaia fixtures, as the first Thursday in December has for years back been the date of a Road Board meeting, Licensing Committee meeting, stock sale, and a church fair. This year the church fair was postponed, the. stock sale abandoned, and the ■ Licensing Committee advanced their time of meeting. The monthly meeting of the South Rakaia Road Board was held on Thursday. There were present: Messrs 11. ,1. Harrison (chairman), A. Drummond, A.': .1. Magson, and .J. Lambic. '.
