SUBMARINE WAR.

In reply to a question in the House of Commons, Mr Asquith said: "We are in consultation with our allies as to the desirability of adopting a 'lon-for-ton' policy for sunken ships." ARMED MERCHANTMEN. A BONE OF CONTENTION. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association WASHINGTON, November 24. Correspondents emphasise the serious situation regarding submarines, and express the opinion that Germany will contend that armed merchantmen are not immune from attacks without warning. The United States will reject this contention.
