A Russian communique states: —Our fire drove back dense columns of Germans who were attempting to advance beyond their entanglements eastward of Novo Alexandrovitz. We frustrated a midnight attack in the Krinks-Ostashin set-tor. There is stubborn fighting at Zaturcy, Volasadovskai, and Shelvou. We captured some positions against strong resistance. Stubborn battles continue on the Zlota-Lipa. Our fire stopped a counter-attack on the river Geniuvka. The enemy brought up reserves, which suffered heavily. Fierce fighting is proceeding. The prisoners taken in this region on Monday totalled 1000. The total for the three battles here since September 30 is over 5000, of which GOO are Germans.
