METHODIST CHURCH.
PAPANUI BAZAAR. At St. Paul's Schoolroom, Papanui, this afternoon, a bazaar in connection with ihe Papanui Methodist Church was opened. It is just twelve months ago since the new Methodist Church was opened at Papanui, the building beingerected at a cost of £1700; 'and this bazaar has been inaugurated with the object of assisting to wipe off the remainder of the debt, viz., £560. The bazaar was opened by Mr G. Witty, M.P., who was introduced .by the Rev. A. Peters. In his opening address, Mr Witty expressed his pleasure at being present, and at being able to assist the Papanui Methodists in the opening of their bazaar. The speaker advised his hearers to hurry up and pay oil' the remaining debt in order that they might be ready to contract another in the shape of a new schoolroom. Mr Witty complimented the ladies on the. fruits of their labours, which were visible in the goodly array of well-filled stalls. The Rev. W. A. Sinclair, chairman of the district, also .spoke. The list of stallconveners is as under: —Work stall, Misses Sheat and Simpson; fancy, Mrs Peters; kitchen, Mrs Livingstone; sweets, Miss .Jones; flowers, Miss Keetly: books, etc., Mr M. Lawry; bran tub, Miss Bessie M'Arthur, assisted by Miss Grace M 'Arthur; produce, Mr Keith; tea rooms, Mesdames Hill and Marshall; competitions, Mr Keir. The bazaar will be open to-night and to-morrow night. | During the afternoon a graceful little song was contributed by Miss Fanny I Ford.
