BRIDGE EVENING AT MORRINSVILLE

AUCKLAND VISITOR ENTERTAINED Miss Humphreys gave an enjoyable flag bridge evening at her home In Victoria Avenue, Morrinsville, last week, in honour of her sister, Mrs. J. Hopwood, of Auckland. The rooms were decorated with bowls of freezias and daffodils. The prizes were won by Mr. W. Harden, Miss Gotobed and Miss M. Parlour. Miss Humphreys received her guests wearing a frock of figured velvet. Mrs. ,T. Hopwood w«re black lace and lame bridge coat. Those present included:—Mrs. S. C. Parlour, Mrs. W. C. Butler, Mrs. R. Atkinson. Cambridge, Miss A. Mallett, Miss M. Parlour, Miss M. Hopwood, Auckland, Miss M. Spinley, Miss D. Spinley. CHILDREN’S PARTY HAPPY BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION A delightful party was given by Mrs. A. G. Newdick to celebrate the ninth birthday of her daughter Gwen, on Saturday. The little guests were entertained with games and items, and the distribution of novelties added greatly to their enjoyment. Miss Gwen Newdick received her guests wearing a frock of bois de rose crepe de chine. Among those present were:—Gwen and Nancy Johnston, Rae Ross, Joy Ratcliffe, Alvina Jones, Anita and Jacqueline Baisley, Patty Boyle. Koanui and Rekanui Simmion, Winnie and Kathleen Teague, Lonna Skinner, Lola and Arthur Newdick, Heather Holmes. Alma Birch, Jimmy Ross and Murray Marbeck. MAUKU METHODISTS SOCIAL EVENING A social evening organised by the members of the Mauku Methodist Church was largely attended. Games and competitions were played and items were contributed by Miss Mary Bellhouse, Auckland, Miss Eva Bellhouse, Miss H. Bellhouse, Miss W. Bellhouse, Mrs. Bojyker, Mrs. J. Bellhouse, Mr. W. D.
