VALLEY BADMINTON CLUB ! HOLDS FIRST ANNUAL FUNCTION MANY VISITORS ATTEND The Alfriston Hall was decorated with a canopy of rainbow streamers and greenery on Tuesday evening, on the occasion of the inaugural ball of the Valley Badminton Club. The large attendance of dancers included visitors from Clevedon, Whitford, Manurewa and surrounding districts. An enjoyable programme of dance numbers was provided by Morrow’s ; Popular Orchestra. Mr. W. S. Moody officiated at the presentation of prizes to Mrs. A. J. Davies, and Mr. J. Plant, winner of the women’s and men’s handicap single ’ competitions respectively. DANCE PARTY AT KINGSLAND COMING-OF-AGE CELEBRATED Last Tuesday an evening was given in the St. George’s Hall, Kingsland, by Mr. and Mrs. C. F. Olney, to celebrate the coming-of-age of their daughter Main a. The hall was decorated with gold and orange streamers, with coloured balloons, and dance music was supplied by the Astonians Frisko Goblin Band. The guests were entertained with dancing and competitions. Mrs. Olney received the guests, wearing a figured brown chenille frock and the guest of honour wore pale amber georgette, with a bridge coat of vel de luxe.
