BOXING ON MONDAY
RICHARDS AND TROWERN GOOD FIGHT EXPECTED Plenty of fighting should be seen at the Town Hall on Mondav evening when Billy Richards, the ciassv Australian welter-weight, will have hi* second fight in New Zealand and his first in Auckland, this time again*’ Reg. Trowern, the well-performed Aucklander who has not been seen in action in the local ring for a long long time.
Both men have been training hard. In his workouts at the Fire Station gymnasium. Richards has shown himself to be a fast and clever boxer, both with his hands and on his feet! and is the possessor of a perfect righthand punch which Trowern will have to avoid if he is to win or go the distance. The Australian has been sparring with Jim Broadfoot and his trainer, Walter Hogg, and has Impressed those who have seen him iu action.
The amateur programme also appears to _be particularly good. R. Purdi*=\ Ncav Zealand bantam-weight champion, and IT. Johns. featherweight champion of the Dominion, will meet, Johns thus having an opportunity of avenging the defeat h-: suffered when the pair met before That good little fighter, Spragg. will meet Bailey, and a newcomer In Gordon will oppose Brentnall. Th* other bout will be between Hogg ard Hill, two good boxers.
