LEAGUE OF MOTHERS
MOUNT ROSKILL BRANCH The Mount Roskill branch of the League of-Mothers held its last meeting of the year on Wednesday last. The Public Hall was festively decorated with streamers, balloons, and a Christmas tree for the tiny tots. Musical and elocutionary items were contributed by Miss Dalton and Miss Pearce. A sponge and fruit cake competition brought many entries. These were judged by Miss Davis, of the ElectricPower Board. The awards were: Sponge, Mrs. Flynn 1, Mrs. Allen 2, Airs. O’Hara 3: fruit cake, Mrs. Dale 1, Mrs. Allen 2, Mrs. Robb 3. The president, Mrs. E. R. Allen, was presented with a basket of roses with the good wishes of the members. FINAL MEETING FOR YEAR . The Ponsonby branch of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union held its final meeting for the year on Thursday afternoon in St. Stephen’s Hall. Mrs. Lee Cowie presided. This being the annual meeting, the report of the year's work was read by the secretary, which showed good work had been done by the branch during the year. The treasurer’s report also showed the branch to be in a good position. The election of officers for the ensuing year took place and resulted in the following being elected: —• President, Miss Reid; vice-presi-dents, Mrs. Lee Cowie and Airs. Hodgkinson; corresponding secretary, Airs. Farrand; recording secretary, Mrs. Joiner; treasurer, Aliss S. Pyle. Superintendents of departments were also elected, as follow: Evangelistic. Airs. Bragg; AntiCJambling and Sabbath Observance, Airs. Farrand; White Ribbon, Aliss S. Pyle; Notable Days, Aliss Pyle; Prison and Mental Hospital Visiting, Mrs. Wakelin; Sick Visitor, Airs. Stewart; Bible in Schools, Airs. Patterson; Birthday League, Airs. Aliller; Cradle Roll, Airs. Hodgkinson; Afternoon Tea convener, Mrs. Logan; Good Citizenship and Press reporter, Airs. Joiner. Afternoon tea brought the meeting to a close.
