MAYOR’S GRIM JOKE
CEMETERY PLOT AS PRIZE THE chairman of the Works Committee of the Otahuhu Borough Council, Mr. C. V. Pearce, recommended at last evening’s meeting of the council that a trophy be presented to the ratepayer who kept his road frontage in the cleanest and neatest order. Possibly two or three prizes could be awarded. In addition, to improving the appearance of the borough, it would lighten the task of the council. The Mayor, Mr. Clements, commended the idea, and suggested that the first prize should be a free plot in the Otahuhu cemetery.
