£6,250 ON DRAINAGE
CITY’S SHARE IN JOINT SCHEME A contribution of £6,250 toward the cost of the combined drainage scheme, when the connection is made, was agreed to last evening by the City Council, This was the recommendation from the Works Committee. The payment will be final and subject to the understanding the council can discharge into the sewer 3,000 cubic feet a minute, a combined capacity equal to half an inch of rainfall on 100 acres from the Epsom district run off in an hour. The Mount Eden Borough Council urged settlement of the City’s obligations and said it was prepared to reduce its claim of £7,000 to £6,250 as the City’s share in the scheme, which involved Mount Eden, Mount Albert, Mount Roskill and Epsom. An alternative suggestion was a payment of £ 6,000 by the City, on the condition the City Council contributed 5 per cent, to maintenance costs.
