NEW SOUTH WALES BODY LOSES BIG SUM AUDACIOUS THEFTS Reed. 10 a.m. SYDNEY, Today. Following investigations by the Local Government Department and the police of the financial efforts of the Tenterfisld Municipal Council, a series of defalcations extending over seven years and involving between £15,000 and £20,000 were revealed. An alderman of the council recently resigned. A manipulation of bogus accounts which the council passed in good faith resulted in its being placed in financial difficulties. The audit revealed a series of audacious thefts.
