YOUTH FRACTURES SKULL
STRUCK BY MOTOR-CAR IN SERIOUS CONDITION (Special to THE SUN) MATAMATA, Sunday. Serious injuries were received by a youth, Leslie Bezant, when he was knocked down by a car near the Matamata racecourse last evening. Bezant, who is employed by Mr. L. W. Ayling, farmer, Hinuera, was walking last evening to Matamata with Mr. Ayling, and two youths, John A. Carter and Duncan McKinnon. When a car was seen approaching the party kept to the left and turned away from the headlights. As this car approached, another, driven by Dr. W. C. Ring, veterinary surgeon, of Auckland, who was travelling in the same direction as the pedestrians, came from behind and ran into Bezant. He was caught by the mudguard and swung back against the door, breaking the glass window with his head. The injured youth was taken to Matamata Hospital and was subsequently taken to the Waikato Hospital. He received a fracture of the skull and his condition is serious.
