KING COUNTRY ANGLICANS

RURAL DEANERY CHAPTER A celebration of the Holy Eucharist preceded the opening of a meeting of the King Country Rural Deanery Chapter at the Anglican Church at Taumarunui. The meeting had been delayed owing to the death of the Rev. Feni Topi, Maori missioner, of Te Kuiti. The following were present:— Canon J. A. Kempthorne (Te Kuiti), presiding; the Rev. J. Treharne Phillips (Otorohanga), the Rev. W. T. F. Skey, the Rev. R. J. Boyt and the Rev. H. K. Pou (Taumarunui). The Rev. S. Goulding (Ohura) and the Rev. C. T. Bush-King (Kawhia), forwarded apologies for absence. The meeting dealt fully with matters affecting its jurisdiction, and drew up a provisional programme to lay before Bishop Cherrington for the meeting of the Rural Deanery Board. This board comprises the clergy and three elected laymen from each parish, and will meet at Te Kuiti on May 23. Subjects to be dealt with will be work in the backblocks, diocesan finance, and reunion. The public will be invited to attend and take part in the evening
