NO QUARRYING

RANGiTOTO DOMAIN The Rangitoto Island Domain Board last evening received a protest from the Town-Planning Association against proposals to allow quarrying at the Beacon. Mr. E. Aldridge, chairman, said the board had no such intention, but the clerk pointed out that about three months ago the board had formulated terms for quarrying there in response to a request. On the motion of Mr. T. Walsh the offer was cancelled and it was resolved to inform the association that no quarrying was contemplated. The Hew Zealand Tourist League urged the eradication of gorse and fennel growing near the summit. The matter will be attended to.
