CLAY BIRD SHOOTING

AUCKLAND GUN CLUB The Auckland Gun Club held a successful series of matches at Pakuranga yesterday. The first match of 10 birds was divided between W. H. Grant 14yds, and D. Cairns 12yds, with nine kills each. R. IT. Bartley won the second match with the possible of 10, all first barrels. The third match, all off 14yds, resulted in a tie between M. Delich, 13. Fraser, I. Lomas, F. 11. Hazard and F. H. Seccombc, with nine out of ten. In the shoot-off, Fraser and Seccombe tied with 15 each. A seven birds match saw F. H. Seccombe, R. H. Bartley and W. Stoupe tie with six kills. They shot off, the first miss counting out. Stoupe missed the 12th bird and the other pair had an exciting contest, Seccombe . eventually winning' on the 26th round. A return match will be shot next Wednesday with the Hamilton Club. The winning team will receive a trophy presented by Mr. F. H. Seecombe, and the trophy is to be shot for by the members. In addition, Mr. A. E. Macredie’s trophy will be competed for. The day has been made “ladies’ day,” .and a record attendance is expected.
