Youngsters to Take on Aussie
THE AVONDALE CLASSIC FINE ACCEPTANCES FOR SATURDAY Excellent acceptances were received at midday to-day for the opening of the autumn meeting of the Avondale Jockey Club, which is to commence on the fine course at Avondale on Saturday, and w'ill be concluded on the following Wednesday. Seven remain in the sprint classic, in which the crack two-year-olds, Gay Ballerina, Supremacy, and Eaglet will take on the brilliant Aussie. The race is run under weight-for-age conditions, with penalties and allowances, and Aussie, Gay Ballerina, and Supremacy have all been mulcted in the full 101 b penalty. Of the seven left in, all but Aussie are two-year-olds. The principal handicap, the Foley Memorial, has a nice field of 13, while 16 are left in the sprint.
