HUGE IRRIGATION PLAN
LACHLAN RIVER, N.S.W. SCHEME TO COST £1,250,000 Reed. 9.5 a.m. SYDNEY, To-day. The British Government has agreed that the huge irrigation scheme on Lachlan River, New South Wales, should come within its £34,000,000 loan to Australia for development works. It is estimated that this scheme, which includes construction of the big Wyangala dam, 300 miles west of Sydney, will cost £1,250,000 It will irrigate a vast area suitable for wheat and fruit, and now sparsely populated.
