BASIC WAGE ALTERED
SYDNEY NOW £4 12/AUSTRALIAN CHANGES
(United P.A.—By Telegraph — Copyright) Reed. 2.5 a.m. MELBOURNE, To-day. Automatic changes of the basic wage in the four States occur on August 1, owing to variation in the cost of living figures—namely, Melbourne,. 6d a week decrease; New South Wales and Tasmania, 6d a week increase; West Australia, 4s increase. The basic wage of Sydney will now be £4 12s weekly.
