SWEPT OVERBOARD
MOTORSHIP’S DECK CARGO OF TIMBER HEAVY SEAS ENCOUNTERED (United P.A.—By Telegraph — Copyright) (Australian and N.Z . Press Association.) SYDNEY, To-day. With a heavy list of 15 degrees, the motor-ship Vincmoor, with a huge timber cargo, has arrived from Portland, Oregon. Sho encountered mountainous seas and gales eight days off the New South Wales coast, and the crew had an anxious time trying to save the cargo. Thousands of feet of Oregon were swept overboard, and a considerable portion of the iron railing was destroyed. DAMAGED BY FIRE The marine underwriters in Sydney have been advised that fire damaged a quantity of sugar aboard the Union Steamship Company’s motor-ship Hauraki, bound from Sydney to San Francisco, via Suva.
