CHURCH FUNCTIONS
There were good attendances at both the morning and afternoon sessions of the annual function of the Papatoetoe branch of the Methodist Social Reague, held in the Methodist Hall, Kolmar Road, Papatoetoe, on "Wednesday.
Stalls were arranged in the hall, and good business was done. They were in charge of Mesdames Brown and Farrand, produce stall: Airs. F. Partridge, sweets stall; Alesdames Boldero, Dawson and* Tusby, sewing stall: Airs. H. Bryant, cake stall. Airs. W. Nesbitt was in charge of the afternoon tea, and was assisted by members of the league. During the afternoon, a very enjoyable musical programme was provided by Airs. Reid, pianoforte solo; Aliss W. Reid and the Rev. A. Mitchell, vocal solos; Alisses M. and R. Wotherspoon, pianoforte duet; Miss Cowley and Aliss R. Roseveare, elocutionary items. During the evening session, a short programme was provided by members of the Y.W.C.A., Auckland, assisted by Air. H. Salter, vocal solos, and Air. Spears, humorous elocutionary items, after which carpet bowls, ping pong and competitions held sway. The competitions wire won by Airs. Neale. Mr. Hart, Aliss R. Partridge and Mr. H. Salter.
