PRESENTATION MADE TO MISS MOWBRAY

An At Home was’ given last evening by the Victoria Reague, in the Lyceum ciubrooms, at which a presentation was made to Aliss Mowbray, who resigned the position of honorary treasurer at the beginning of the year. Miss. Alowbray is now president of the Auckland branch of the league and. until her resignation a few months ago, had been treasurer for 18 years. i In making the presentation, which j consisted of a crocodile leather hand- j bag containing a cheque and a fountain pen, Air. H. Goldie read a letter expressing gi % itude for what Aliss Alowbray had done for the league. “During your IS years’ of strenuous work,” ran the letter, “the Victoria League has prospered exceedingly; when you took office in 3 910 the membership of the league numbered 413, while to-day it numbers 1,200. The year’s receipts from all sources in 1910 was only £ll4 and to-day just on £3,000, due to your efforts.” Aliss Alowbray thanked the executive and members for their gifts. “It has been one long pleasure,” she said, “for me to help make the league a success. I thank you for the welcome you have given me to-night and for your gifts.” During the evening songs were sung by Aliss Marjorie Faire and Aliss Thelma St. Clair Whyte, recitations were given by Miss Griffiths, Aliss AlcCulloch and Aliss St. Clair Whyte, a monologue by Miss Alobberley, a sketch by Aliss Adkin and a pianoforte solo by Aliss Venables.
