ARE MAORIS BARRED FROM ROYAL NAVY?
WILLING TO JOIN The ineligibility of members of the Maori race lor the Royal Navy has been a subject to which members of Te Akarana Maori Association have devoted considreable time of late. There were many New Zealanders of Maori descent, it was pointed out at last night’s meeting of the association, who would like to enter the Navy. They had been told, inasmuch, however, that it was ho use for them to make application-. Mr. Patrick Smyth, the secretary, informed th© meeting, however, that Archdeacon Hawkins would meet the association members next week and explain th© position to them.
