TIP AND RUN
LORRY DRIVER AND TRAIN SMASH AVERTED AT TE PAPAPA Last evening a motor-lorry driver escaped a serious smash at Te Papapa by inches. The vehicle he was driving struck a passing train but apparently the lorry was not damaged, as the driver made off into the gathering gloom as quickly as possible. As the goods train which left Onehunga for Penrose at 6.3 oclock last evening was passing over the Church Street intersection at Te Papapa. the engine and a motor-lorry collided. Apparently the only damage don# was a dent on the tender of the railway locomotive.
