DISPUTE OVER ENGINE
JUDGMENT FOR DEFENDANT Claiming that a recently purchased marine engine was defective, Marian Devcich, of Hamilton (Mr. G. P. Finlay) sued Joseph Benson, engineer, of Auckland (Mr. L. P. Leary) before Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., at the Magistrate’s Court yesterday. Plaintiff purchased the engine from a third party, a written guarantee from Benson going with it. It was claimed the engine was not in good running order at the time of sale, and had proved defective in several parts. * Defendant contended that the breaking of the parts was due to the oilfeed apparatus not working because it had been tampered with by plaintiff, and that the engine was not handled properly.
Judgment was entered for defendant, with costs, £l7 9s.
