WAITEMATA WORKS
COUNCIL MEETS The fact that the finances of the Waitemata County Council are low and that it will be necessary to curtail expenditure in the winter months, was made known to councillors by the treasurer to-day. It was reported that the boundaries of the proposed Kaipara River district would probably be considerably enlarged, to take in the Waitakere Riding as well as the Kumeu and Mairetahi Ridings. The engineer stated that no further work had been done by the Takapuna Borough Council in providing a metalled track over the new filling at the Wairau Bridge approach, which resulted in inconvenience to county ratepayers. It was recommended that an emphatic protest be registered with the Public Works Department against the inaction of the Takapuna Borough Council in failing to carry out the terms imposed upon them by the Governor’s warrant, authorising them do to the work.
