Fashions and Fabrics At The Trots

The chill of the early morning and occasional showers made the frocking at the opening of the Auckland Trotting Club’s winter meeting favour only garments that were warm and weatherproof. Tailor-mades of serviceable tweeds, snug little hats that sat closely about their wearer’s heads and furs in all their variety of cosy beauty were unanimously worn. Colours aq they always do nowadays defied the attempt of the elements to subdue their riotous gaiety,-and were to be seen in a hundred nuances of blue and green and brown and scarlet against a background of the everpopular black. Among those present were: Mrs. W. S. Spence, navy blue crepe de chine frock with lace relief, fur coat and navy hat. Miss Cullin, bois de rose tweed ensemble and felt hat to tone.

Mrs. A. Coutts, rose lustre coat banded with honey fur and rose felt hat to tone. Mrs. J. A. B. Hellabv. pleated grey crepe de chine frock, grey fur wrap and floral velvet hat. Mrs. Chilwell.
